So yesterday, I told Karree to be at our house at 10:30 am sharp to start his internship. His mom told me he was so excited and sure enough there was a knock on the door at 10:25. When I opened the door I was surprised to see Karree had another younger boy with him. He introduced me to his cousin Steve and explained that he was in charge of watching him today and he wanted to know if he could come with us. Since Steve is only 11, I told him I would have to get a volunteer release form signed by one of his parents. We hopped in the car and headed to Steve's house to get the form signed. Then we went by Ami Ciontos house of Atlanta Underdog Initiative to pick up an Atlanta Bully Rally t-shirt they were giving to Karree to wear when he's working.
The boys were so excited about working at the vaccine clinic hosted by Atlanta ResponsiBULLY Coalition and Lifeline. When we arrived, they were assigned to work the registration area. When someone walked up with their dog, they would hand them a clip board to fill out. They took their job very seriously. I also overheard them telling a few people why they should get their dog fixed!
All of the Lifeline employees and volunteers were so patient showing Karree and Steve what to do. Of course the boys flocked to the pit bulls, their favorite type of dog. When it was time to go, they did not want to leave. They had a great time and can't wait until they can help again.
Yesterday's free rabies vaccine clinic was a huge success! About 40 pets were signed up to be fixed for free at Lifeline funded by Atlanta ResponsiBULLY Coalition.
