Our local shelter posted this poor senior guy:
We posted his photo asking if anyone wanted to foster him and let him live out his days in their home. Several very kind people offered to take him in and we processed applications and decided on the one we thought was the best fit, Lori of Sunkissed Acres Equine Rescue . He was named George and I went to visit him at the shelter. He was so much worse in person and I realized he most likely had days left, not weeks. From experience, my best guess was he was suffering from kidney failure. |

March 17, 2012, St. Patrick's Day: This morning my day started off with trying to help animal control with a pack of stray dogs that have become aggressive and neighbors have been calling them daily for the past few weeks. After we were able to set a trap, the AC officer got a call about 2 abandoned pit bulls at a vacant house just a block away. He asked if I wanted to come with him, so we hopped in the truck and headed that way. All of a sudden my gut told me it was probably the dogs belonging to Karree, the 15 year-old that had come by our house earlier in the week, I told the officer about that situation, you can read that story here: |

So this morning we get an unexpected knock on the door. I look out the blinds and see a young teen there with a pit bull. I ask him what he wants and he asks if I'm the lady that does pit bull rescue. I take a deep breath knowing this is probably not going to be good news and I open the door. We sit on the front porch and he tells me he needs to give away 11 pit bull puppies that are only two weeks old immediately. Two weeks ago, I got a call from Kate who is the local director of the Coalition to Unchain Dogs. |

This morning we headed out the door at 7am to help transport four owned pit bulls to Lifeline Spay & Neuter Clinic in College Park
The owners were very kind people who loved their four pit bulls, but after hearing the story of how they came to acquire their dogs, I thought it needed to be shared. Here's a photo of two of the pit bulls in our car (it's not a very good photo because it was dark and taken with a camera phone):
To start with, they had one male pit bull that was not neutered. |
